The Rotary Club of Chippewa Falls “Rotars of the Month” Ethan Faschigbauer, a senior high school at Chippewa Falls High School, with her team Kamryn and Bella, embarked on a project called "Impact Spouts" to benefit elementary school students, starting with Halstad and Parkview Elementary.

Initially focusing on enhancing counting skills and number recognition for kindergartners, the project then transitioned to Hillcrest Elementary, organizing a cereal box donation drive. They successfully distributed 330 cereal boxes to middle and high school pantries. Moving on to Stillson, the focus shifted to improving reading fluency and numeracy for kindergartners and second graders. At Jim Falls Elementary, the emphasis was on expanding community outreach by creating cat blankets for the local humane society and donating blankets and toys.

At Southview, they established recess clubs to provide academic enrichment and fun activities for children to start their day positively. What started as a small-time commitment to community service escalated into much more. Despite facing challenges like lack of sleep and inconvenient parking, the team found joy and purpose in being positive role models, embodying the motto of service above self on a daily basis.

Ethan expressed, “We aren’t doing this project for the sake of our National Honor Society Club. The children's enthusiasm as soon as I enter the room and their eagerness to share about their weekends at 7 am during recess have been truly heartwarming. This experience will be cherished for a lifetime, and it's ‘Service Above Self’ and the choice we gladly make every time our alarm goes off."
