What makes Moon Tunes one of the most popular summer traditions in the Coulee Region? Maybe it's the music. Maybe it's the atmosphere. Or perhaps it's the way a simple evening in the park brings people together while giving back to the community. Whatever the reason, Moon Tunes continues to strike the right chord year after year.
Now in its 15th season, Moon Tunes is hosted by the Valley View Rotary Club of La Crosse and has recently earned top honors in several La Crosse County entertainment categories: #1 live music/concert venue | # 1 Family entertainment | # 1 Budget entertainment | # 1 Free Activity | # 2 Local Event
The event raises both donations and awareness for the stunning bandshell renovation and other park amenities.
Theme concerts are featured throughout the series, and there are always surprise performances that seem to happen naturally on stage as everyone celebrates summer in God's Country.
Friends and families gather with lawn chairs, beverages, and snacks to enjoy free performances by some of the area's finest musicians. During intermission, members of the Valley View Rotary Club pass donation buckets through the crowd, inviting those who wish to make a goodwill contribution.
Funds raised through Moon Tunes have helped establish the Terry Bauer Moon Tunes Special Projects Fund, which provides grants for local community projects. Terry Bauer is the founder of Moon Tunes, and his vision continues to create lasting benefits for the community.
