Learning another language is one of the most valuable benefits of Rotary Youth Exchange. It is recommended that you spend 30 minutes a day focused on learning the language before you leave.
- Enroll in a language class at school or privately
- Watch videos and/or movies in your new language. YouTube!
- Listen to popular music of your country. Get the lyrics online and translate them. What are they singing about?
- Use the library for children's books in the new language. Nursery rhymes and music are helpful too.
- Invest in a Language Learning tools like Rosetta Stone.
- Learn two "feeling" words a day like happy, sad, confused, hungry, excited, etc...
- Buy a dictionary in your new language and use it.
- Read out-loud in your new language
- Write in your new language.
- Focus on Grammar and the new rules of your new language.
- Find a native speaker and practice conversing with him/her
