About Polio Plus

Rotary International is working to eradicate Polio from the earth. After 35 years, there are still two countries that experience the wild spread of polio. Rotarians around the world are united to raise fuds for vaccinations and improved health to eradicate this devastating disease.

Help Us End Polio

Madison South Rotary Club is hosting an indoor cycling fund raiser at the SBR Endurance Performance Center located in Verona. For a nominal entry fee of $50 per team, sixteen teams of two participants will ride their own road bikes (*) on a computer-generated course with each team member riding a 45-minute session.

All participants are highly encouraged to solicit per mile pledges for their team. The total number of miles ridden by the team multiplied by the per mile pledges will be the basis of calculating the team’s total funds raised. See attached pledge sheet which you may find helpful in soliciting and keeping track of your team’s pledges. To help with your fundraising note that it is estimated that the total miles covered by teams during the 90-minute ride will range between 20 to 30 miles.

All proceeds from this event, including any unspent portion of the entry fees, will go to Rotary International’s End Polio Now efforts. Be sure to let your donors know that all funds raised are matched 2 to 1 by the Gates Foundation.

 * Note only road bikes with a smooth rear tire and rim brakes will be able to be used for this event. In conjunction with the acceptance your team’s registration our event coordinator will work with you to make sure your bikes are compatible with SBR’s Compu-Trainer system.
