  1. RotaryFest’s Hoard’s Dairyman Farm Tours / Hoard’s Dairyman Magazine

RotaryFest is partnering with the Hoard’s Dairyman Farm to offer family friendly tours of this historic, start of the art farm. Many Rotarians come from dairy farm backgrounds and many will remember their parents and greatgrandparents reading the Hoard’s Dairyman Magazine. The farm, originally purchased in 1899 by founder, W.D. Hoard, has served as a key component of the magazine, which was first published in 1885. One main purpose for operating the farm is to keep all employees of the magazine, especially the editors, keenly aware of the on-farm aspects of the industry we cover in our 20 issues a year and through our other media outlets. Hoard’s Dairyman is the only agricultural publication in the world that is fully engaged in the business it covers.

Interesting fact; DG Edwin Bos’ company recently built the freestall barn and milking parlor which houses the state of the art robotic milking machines … but don’t ask Edwin to many questions about it because his brother Harman oversaw the project.
