When I send out Rotary-related emails, my signature block includes the following sentence which I believe captures the essence of who we are as Rotarians:

“Rotary is a global network of more than 1.2 million neighbors, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.”

Rotary’s Learning Center, which is found in your myrotary.org account on RI’s website, provides hundreds of trainings and learning courses to help us achieve our Rotary goals at the club, district and individual levels.  The focus areas of these trainings include General Rotary knowledge, club leadership, district leadership, professional development as well as specific trainings on membership, public image and the Rotary Foundation.

In addition to RI’s online trainings noted above, Rotary offers many in-person trainings which are conducted at the District, Zone and Rotary International levels.  Our next District training will be our annual Vibrant Club Workshop which will take place in November.  More details on this District wide Workshop will be published soon.

For all of the training and learning that Rotary has provided to me during the various stages of my leadership positions, the breadth and depth of Rotary’s causes and programs remain nothing short of remarkable to me.   I feel that my working knowledge of all-things Rotary barely scratches the tip of the surface.  Fortunately, Rotary isn’t dependent solely on me to bring great ideas.  Our best and most numerous “support staff” actually comes directly from our District’s clubs which are performing amazing wonders on a weekly basis.  Additionally, our District 6250 is fortunate to have dozens of well-versed leaders who have been involved in all levels of RI.  Please let me know if I can be the conduit to connect you with someone who can help you out with a Rotary-related question or issue.

Last month, I wrote about “Promoting Peace” which is one of Rotary’s seven areas of focus.  Since writing that letter, Eva Marie (my wife) and I have registered to attend the upcoming ‘Rotary Presidential Peace Conference’ in Turkey, Istanbul which will take place from February 20-22, 2025.  If you are interested in going too, reach out to me and I can share details.  We would love to see you in Turkey.

In addition to Peace, the other focus of my District Governor talk is on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene.  I will expand on this topic in my upcoming Dispatch letters.
