Rotary Responds to California Wildfires
District 5280 Wildfire Disaster Relief Resources

As you all know, the devastation brought on by the California wildfires has been a challenge filled with ongoing tragedy. The Rotary family has risen to the challenge with compassion and action. Together, we’ve raised funds that are already making a difference. We’ve distributed $5,000 checks to trusted organizations—the American Red Cross, LA Regional Food Bank, and the California Fire Foundation—to provide shelter, distribute food, and supply critical resources like blankets, cots, and gift cards.

Additionally, Disaster Relief Grants have been issued to support our Rotary Clubs in their efforts. These funds are being utilized for initiatives like Safe Search Training and equipment to help families recover cherished items from their homes. Clubs have also provided water, hot meals, and essential supplies to evacuees and first responders.

We know many clubs are actively brainstorming impactful projects for the days, weeks, and months ahead. In response to the acute housing crisis, we’ve created a resource directory focused on housing needs. The demand for available units has skyrocketed—what used to attract two applicants now sees 15-20 vying for a single apartment. To assist, some Rotarians have generously listed housing options at reduced costs. To offer financial support and short-term housing options, please visit District 5280 Wildfire Disaster Relief

Let us continue to keep our community and the world in our prayers as we stand together to face these challenges. The resilience and compassion of Rotarians remind us that, even in the darkest times, we are never alone.

Yours in Service,
