In the September eBulletin I wrote that the The Rotary Foundation had recently established a Rotary Disaster Relief Fund to which all Rotary Districts impacted by a Disaster can apply for Funds. Recently Typhoon PhanFone hit the Philippines including District 3850. District 3850 is near and dear to many District 6250 Rotarians, Rotaractors and Interactors who have friends there, have traveled there or who have contributed to projects there. Rotarian Jim Nelson of the Fort Atkinson Rotary Club has established a fund via our District Charitable Trust specifically to assist with this Disaster. Read more below.
On Christmas Day, Typhoon Phanfone, hit the central part of the Philippines, which includes the areas where we've been doing our projects over the past 4 years. The damage has been significant. Rotary District 6250 has developed a fund in their District Charitable Trust to collect funds to help aid in the recovery process. The most immediate need is for food, clothing, and shelter for the individuals whose homes were destroyed (over 10,000 homes) or damaged (70,000 homes). District 6250 will collect these funds and forward them to Rotary District 3850 - the District with whom we've partnered on our projects. They will coordinate the distribution of the funds with other relief agencies in the area. If you would like to make a contribution, here are two ways in which you can do so. Please make sure you note "Philippines - Typhoon Phanfone Fund" in the memo of the check or credit card donation:
