August is Rotary International’s month for Membership and New Club Development, and while we still have a few weeks left in August, take time to shine a light on one of our most powerful tools for growth: Public Image.

Public image is more than social media or a polished website—it’s every way we show Rotary’s heart, energy, and impact to the world. From inviting someone to a fellowship, to sharing your personal Rotary story over coffee. Public image isn’t just what we post; it’s how we connect and live our values out loud.
When people hear “public image,” they often think only of social media posts or an up-to-date club website. While those are important, Rotary’s public image is so much more—it’s the way we show the heart, energy, and impact of Rotary to the world.
Public image can be:
  • Sharing photos and updates about club projects on Facebook, Instagram, or your website.
  • Inviting a potential member to join you for a Rotary fellowship or service event.
  • Taking someone out for coffee and telling your personal Rotary story—what inspired you to join, what keeps you involved, and the impact Rotary has had on your life.
  • Sitting down with your membership team to brainstorm, then intentionally reaching out to people you would like to see join your club.
Every conversation, every invitation, every story shared contributes to our public image. When people see the warmth, purpose, and connections in Rotary, they’re more likely to picture themselves as part of it.
This August, let’s remember: Public image isn’t just what we post—it’s how we connect. By living our values out loud, we open the door for others to join us in doing good in the world.
