Rotary Club Sponsorship Opportunity for Teens in Your Community Aimed at Peace-building and World Affairs
The World Affairs Seminar (WAS) is a weeklong residential camp for high school students interested in global perspectives on issues of peacebuilding, diplomacy, community engagement, and civic dialogue. This year the seminar will be held from June 20-26, 2026, at Carroll University in Waukesha. WAS is in its 49th year, and has over 30,000 past delegates from Wisconsin, nationally, and internationally, with around 200+ attendees each year.
The theme for the seminar each year is based on one of the United Nation’s Goals for Sustainable Development and includes keynote speakers, a peacebuilding simulation, capstone projects, team leadership activities and more. Over 85% of the attendees to WAS are sponsored through a local service club in their community, and delegates return from the seminar prepared to share in a presentation describing the experience at a meeting of their sponsoring club.
We hope your Rotary Club will consider sponsoring a delegate for the 2026 seminar. Tuition includes lodging, all meals, the full academic program, and social events is $995, with an early bird discount of $50 if your club commits to sponsoring a delegate by February 28, 2026. Once your club decides to sponsor a delegate, the WAS staff will give you guidance on how your club might identify and select a student from your local high school.
