You'd have to have blinders on in October to miss a Polio Event or Polio Fundraiser somewhere in District 6250. We hit the streets, we hit the airwaves, we hit social media and we did a great job of getting the word out that Polio has not been beat, that the fight continues and that everyone needs to stay vigilant. I visited Viroqua where .... I was on the air with Rotarian Karen Dahl during her Hello Neighbor show and learned that the City has a large number of people who prescribe to the anti-vaxxer movement. Imagine being in a Rotary Club where you need to convince segments of your own community that the fight we are waging against Polio is worthwhile. This is wrong and I'd support any group of Rotarians who want to organize a peaceful End Polio Now march through the streets of Viroqua ... a protest against the anti-vaxxer movement right here in our District. October 24th was a busy day. In the Madison area $1,689 was donated by the Great Dane to the Rotary Foundation to help the fight against polio. With the 2:1 match from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, that brings the total to over $5,000. The various Pints for Polio events in our District created great publicity for Rotary and is something we should definitely continue in the future.
In Barabaoo ... a Pizza for Polio event!
Marshfield Rotarians held their own Pints for Polio night as did La Crosse area Rotarians.
Prairie du Chien Rotary went door to door to local businesses and collected over $3,000 before the match!
