The Mayville Rotary Club exemplifies how a spark of an idea can take hold and bring community together. And it all started with a new member grant. From Mike Schuett:

The summer of 2022 had over 15 events in The Square many due to the new stage and equipment. Pictured is Ukekrazy performing at the Kids Rock Day Afternoon in July 2022. Keep reading to learn more.

Allen Street in Mayville is a side street off Main Street. The total length of Allen Street is two city blocks. In 2021 it was discussed with the city council to shut down one block of Allen Street, closest to Main Street to build a gathering area for local citizens and businesses. This would be done on a trial basis to see if people used it and learn how it could used better. In 2021 the area was used to show Bucks games, it was used for small bands, it was used to just sit at for lunch and it was used for some fund-raising activities for different groups.

When the Mayville Rotary Club received a new member grant in the amount of $1,000, we challenged the new members to form a committee, brainstorm and see what the best way to use those funds were. They decided on getting some equipment for the Park Street Square to make it more usable for other events. That then morphed into equipment and a stage. With knowing the Rotary Club was backing the Allen Street Park Square, the city stepped up and rehabbed the electric for the square.
