CONNECT. GROW. SERVE

The Rotary Club of Madison (RCM) seeks Rotary partners in Global Grant proposals for two projects in Africa. Both projects advance Rotary International goals for water, sanitation and hygiene (https://www.rotary.org/en/our-causes/providing-clean-water) and environmental sustainability (https://esrag.org/) as well as United Nations Sustainable Development goals (https://sdgs.un.org/goals).

Sustainable Solar-Powered Water Supplies for Villages in Rural Liberia Working with the Rotary Club of Gbargna, Liberia, this project will install water wells, storage tanks and solar-powered pumps in rural villages of central Liberia. The wells are usually co-located with schools or clinics, supporting improvements in education and community health. Wisconsin-based Strides for Africa and Liberia-based Humanity Care Liberia are proven implementation partners.

RCM has committed $10,000 to this project and seeks an additional $10,000 from other Rotary Clubs. Together with District and Global Grant matches, this will enable the construction of wells in at least 4 communities. Sustainable Water Supply and Renewable Energy for a Clinic in Kenya Working with the Rotary Club of Kisumu, Kenya, this project aims to provide reliable, renewable energy and a sustainable water supply to support a community health facility. The project will provide a solar-powered borehole for fresh water and water storage and solar power for the health facility. This initiative will serve individuals living with HIV/AIDS, mothers and children. RCM has committed $6,291
to this project and seeks an additional $10,000 from other Rotary sources. District and Global Grant matches will be sought.

Commitments to partner in these projects will be most helpful if received by March 1, 2025.
