District 6250’s International Service Committee is highlighting several exciting global opportunities; from major water pipeline work in Tanzania and a high-impact waste-management project in Chile, to critical medical initiatives in India and Hungary.

With strong host partners, sustainable plans, and excellent matching-fund potential, these projects offer meaningful ways for clubs of all sizes throughout our district to engage in Rotary’s global mission.

Recent successes in Brazil and India show what’s possible when clubs take the lead. Explore the full list and learn how to get involved by visiting our website for more details. And don't forget the opportunity for double matching on global grants through February!

To help guide participation, the ISC evaluates international projects based on several core principles: strong and capable host partners, opportunities for clubs to lead as International Partners, long-term relationship-building, solid financial commitment from host districts, and an emphasis on people-to-people connection as the foundation for impactful, sustainable service.

Below is a list of current opportunities for individuals, clubs, and AG groups looking to get involved. If a project sparks interest, contact ISC Chair Edwin Bos at 920-650-0734 or edwin@bosdesignbuilders.com

Water Pipeline Global Grant – Tanzania (District 9214)

District 6250’s Friendship Exchange partners in Tanzania, the Netherlands, Poland, and Croatia have joined forces to explore an 18 km water pipeline serving the Mbaash Primary School, which supports Maasai children in northern Tanzania. Community assessments and technical studies are complete, highlighting a complex challenge: balancing water needs for both the school and the Maasai community’s cattle. Fundraising is now underway for this $300,000+ Global Grant.

Turning Trash into Impact – Chile (District 4340)

In Curacaví—a growing rural community in Chile’s wine country—waste must be transported more than 100 km due to the absence of a local landfill, driving up municipal costs and creating micro-dumps that threaten public health. The Rotary Club of Curacaví proposes a practical, high-impact solution: a trash compaction and recycling facility that will reduce hauling expenses, eliminate illegal dumping, and improve environmental conditions. The municipality has already committed a building, staff, and operational support.

This is the club’s third major project with international partners, following successful dental and physical therapy initiatives. A strong Friendship Exchange between District 6250 and District 4340 further strengthens collaboration. For every $1 contributed by a D6250 club, matching funds multiply it to $4.60, making this a high-leverage opportunity.

Project Budget: $116,622
Local Chilean Commitment: $43,043
International Partners Needed: Yes

Burn Victim Care Global Grant – India (District 3060)

The Rotary Club of Ankleshwar is leading a $41,000 Global Grant to expand care for burn victims in Gujarat, India. The host club and district have committed the majority of the funding, signaling strong local ownership. A District 6250 club is invited to step in as the International Partner with a contribution of $1,566, which—combined with DDF and World Fund—creates a $7,200 impact. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for clubs new to Global Grants.

A new partnership emerging from DG Mike’s connection with Hungarian Rotary leaders aims to support advanced pediatric laser surgery services in Budapest. The host club brings extensive experience in pediatric medical projects and is committed to long-term relationships, including potential collaboration through Youth Exchange and future RFEs. More information will be available this fall, but enthusiasm and alignment between districts are already strong.
