Youth Service

Recently I had the opportunity to connect with some of our Interact Advisors and I was rejuvenated with stories of success and impact that these students are experiencing within their communities. It made me think back on the last two years and the struggles that have been presented to all of our Youth Programs. It also made me realize how dedicated our Rotarians are to continue the success of these programs even when they're turned upside down. We've seen clubs reconnect with their former exchange students and recommit to hosting students, Interact Clubs hold drive-throughfundraisers and continue growing as clubs and we hosted our first ever fully virtual RYLA event. I am in awe of the commitment that we have to our Youth and recognize that our district understands the importance that these programs hold as the future of Rotary.

We anticipate that 2022 will look a little closer to normal, however, we know that we need to be flexible and adapt to any changes that come our way. We've prepared students to participate in Exchange, though the numbers are lower than in previous years, it's a great way to get that program back up and running. We're planning for an in-person RYLA event and can't wait to welcome those students to Upham Woods. Interact is continuing to thrive and we're working to strengthen the relationships that can be fostered across the district for those clubs. When I joined the district board in 2020, I had no idea what the next 3 years would look like, and it's sure been different than what I expected, but it's also been such a fantastic learning experience. Here's to 2022 and continuing to thrive and grow in Rotary. If your club is looking to collaborate with another club, learn more about Youth Programs, or just has questions about anything Youth related, please don't hesitate to reach out to me, I'm happy to help!

Thanks!!
