Things to bring to Grand Rapids:

 
  1. PIN EXCHANGE:   A special time will be set for exchanging pins; bring a bag full!
  2. Bring along a swimsuit – campus pool is available.
  3. Casual Clothes
  4. OPTIONAL:  Student ROTARY BLAZERS (REBOUNDS – bring your blazers!)
  5. OPTIONAL:  Soccer shoes and clothing (Brazil Against The World soccer game happens on Saturday)
  6. OPTIONAL:  Small iPod speakers, cards, games, etc… for free time in the common area (basement) of the dorm.  There will be free time at night.
  7. OPTIONAL:  Bring markers for signatures for flags etc…
  8. ON CAMPUS:  Toiletries (soap, shampoo, sunscreen, etc…).  Rooms only come with a small bar of soap and 1 hand towel and 1 bath towel per person.
  9. ON CAMPUS:  There is no air conditioning in the dorms. Consider bringing a fan. Fans can also be rented at the desk in each dorm at a rate of $1.00 per day plus a $ 5.00 fan deposit fee.  If you are riding the BUS, please rent your fan at the dorm to help save space for luggage.
  10. ON CAMPUS:  You will be asked to make a $20.00 deposit for each room key. This is refunded on Sunday morning at check-out.
  11. VAN/BUS RIDERS:  Bring money for lunch on Thursday and on Sunday.
 
 

TALETED ACTS NEEDED

Singers -- Musicians -- Dancers -- Ethnic Acts -- Comedy Acts -- Skits -- etc.

MC’s and stage crew members are also needed.
 
  • The Saturday evening General Session will feature a variety show performed by RYE Students.
  • Students may also audition to serve as Emcees for the show.
  • Any student who wishes to audition for the variety show should remember to bring to the audition the Costume that they intend to wear, and any hand props that they will be using in their performance.
  • They should bring any Musical Instrument (s) they intend to play (a piano will be provided). If they have a certain song they want to sing, dance, or perform to, they must bring a CD recording of the music with them, or any Sheet Music that they need to be played for them (an accompanist will be provided). Music or recordings on iPods, laptop computers, etc. will not be accepted.
  • There can be NO MORE than Eight (8) people in any one act.
  • Performers have a MAXIMUM of four (4) minutes to perform so make sure to time the performance before auditioning. Students who go longer than the allotted number of minutes will be asked to stop.
  • NO SWORDS, KNIFES, FLAMMABLE MATERIALS (such as Candles, Lighters, etc.) are allowed to be used in any act as this is a policy of Calvin College.
