Ethics Initiative Committee

In 2011-12, District 6250 formed an Ethics Initiative Committee.

As a result of the committee’s work, at the District 6250 Conference in 2012, the District Ethics Initiative Committee identified seven different options for ethics projects for youth that Rotary clubs in the District might implement. Each club in the District was encouraged to designate a Club Ethics Champion to lead the effort.

Rotary has a core set of ethical principles that we know as the Four-Way Test. As Rotarians, we repeatedly affirm to each other and to the community at large that there is an ethical basis to the things we think, say, and do. Implementing an ethics-related project for youth is an excellent example of “service above self” that promotes universal values such as honesty, respect, courage, and responsibility and that will help young people be ethical citizens.

Since 2012, as a result of the efforts of Rotarians throughout the District, we have had a positive impact on thousands of students.

The District 6250 Ethics Committee continues to serve as a resource for Rotary Clubs, Rotaract Clubs, Interact Clubs, and other groups throughout District 6250 and beyond who would like assistance in planning an ethics related project for youth and/or a program for a club meeting.

Youth Frontiers

This non-profit organization presents all-day character education retreats for elementary, middle, and high school students, that some Rotary clubs (including the Rotary Club of Sun Prairie) have helped fund and support.
