Meeting Grant Program

2018-2019 Satellite Club/Alternate Meeting Grant Program

A $2500 District 6250 Membership Grant is now Available to set up a satellite/alternate meeting club and boost your club’s membership.

Introduction

  • A District 6250 membership grant of $2500 is available to the first two clubs in District 6250 to set up and register a Satellite/Alternate Meeting club with the district by June 30, 2018.
  • Satellite/Alternate Meeting Clubs are clubs meeting at a different time than the sponsor club
  • Club members are registered with Rotary as a member of the sponsor club
  • This type of club requires a smaller start up member base than a normal Rotary Club and is ideal for attracting new members with a different demographic, availability, or to have a single purpose focus.  Clubs can have different types of meetings to their sponsor club (i.e. weekend or no meal meetings).
Criteria
  • To Qualify for the $2500 grant the satellite club needs to have a start-up membership of 10 members.  This needs to happen before June 30th, 2018.
  • The club has to start with at least ten members, and ten of the members must be new members, not transferring members from the sponsor club. Remember, it is the same club, just a different meeting.
  • Once membership is confirmed by the membership committee, you can claim the $2500 grant by contacting the District Governor, Joe Ruskey, at jruskey@dpndbl.com
  • This $2500 grant is for use on the first project that the satellite group undertakes
    • Involves the new members in the planning and delivery of the project
    • Provides hands on participation so that the club members get to experience serving the community on a Rotary project
    • Can be used for a local or international project if all other criteria are met
  • Clubs that receive this grant will be required to report back to the current membership chair(s) and District Governor on their project 6 months after receiving the grant.  This report should include:
    • Brief recap of the project for the district facebook and website
    • Receipts showing grant was used for project
    • Number of individuals helped from project
    • Current membership numbers of the satellite club
Benefits of sponsoring a Satellite/Alternate Meeting Club in District 6250
  • New Club Members will be added to your club membership numbers, so your club numbers will still grow
  • Members of the club can determine their own structure for meeting times, venue, meals, etc. thereby giving flexibility that could have otherwise deterred them from continuing membership or joining the host club
  • The first two clubs in District 6250 to meet the criteria will receive a special membership grant of $2500 each.  This could give members a tremendous start to their project objectives
  • Added members will add volunteer assistance to the host club (and vice-versa) as required for projects.
  • Companies in your area may be interested in setting up a club that could form part of their Corporate Social Responsibility program.
  • Clubs have the ability to target groups or demographics that are unavailable with their current structure, meeting time, etc. (i.e. Young Professionals, Parents with young families, middle managers, or recent retirees)

The $2500 grants are for the first 2 clubs that establish a Satellite/Alternate Meeting club. The timeline is from July 1, 2017 – June 30th, 2018.  It will close for the year when the first two clubs meet the requirement.  If you need any further information, please contact:
