“The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do”. - Steve Jobs
Welcome to August – a month dedicated to building the TEAM – your club, our district, and beyond. Surrounding yourself with the right people is always key – as Steve Jobs shares in his famous quote and commercial – the crazy ones, the people who see things differently are often the ones that change the world. I’m incredibly grateful to have those “people” Steve references, on our District 6250 Team. It brings me such JOY to plan, create, inspire and of course, enjoy fellowship with 6250 Rotarians. You are creating HOPE in all that you do. THANK YOU!
As you lean into August, I encourage you to continue to work diligently to nurture your current members, as well as seek new members. Building your team at the club level is an important step in creating a vibrant club culture. Whether you’re looking to create a bench for your committee, planning for an event, or simply gathering for fellowship, nothing is more important than the people you surround yourself with – the team. The Learning Center on My Rotary is a great place to find resources to attract and engage members of your team. Just click HERE
From a district and beyond level, we are focusing on engaging Rotarians in exciting leadership opportunities. Let’s build our team together. We know that our clubs are filled with incredible leaders. Some key positions we are looking to fill are: Membership Chair, Assistant Governors for Areas 2/3/6/10/11, DEI Chair, Tri-Con Vice Chair, and so many more. If you are interested in joining our District 6250 Leadership Team, please reach out to me to learn about these exciting opportunities. Also, please share these opportunities at club meetings and in your club communication. Together we can make impactful change and create hope. Learn more HERE.
I am also excited to share that our efforts to prioritize mental health and wellness will launch this September. Our Mental Health Task Force has been working diligently to form partnerships, engage members, and create content and programming to educate our club members around the topic of mental health and wellness. More on that below!
It is an honor to serve beside you on the District 6250 Team. Hope lives in ALL that we do together.

August message
The Rotary International Convention in Melbourne called on all members to champion mental health needs by supporting one another, advocating for mental health services, and building bridges with experts to expand access to treatment. Rotary's connections create a safe space for members to bring their whole selves, showing each other comfort and care. Doing good helps transform Rotary members and the communities they serve, making Rotary a powerful global advocate for mental health. Mental health care fits within several areas of focus, with 41 global grant-supported projects. Rotary aims to erase the stigma associated with emotional well-being, raise awareness of mental health needs, and improve access to mental health services.
Friendship Exchange: “It’s like Dessert,” says Poland’s District Governor
There’s a lot on Piotr Jankowski plate these days, as the RI District Governor of Poland oversees humanitarian efforts there to support refugees from Ukraine. Although his visit to the US, and to the April RI Tricon23 Convention in La Crosse, was part of a Friendship Exchange, his main entree was ginning up support for Ukrainian refugees. This three-part feature in narratives and podcast takes you through the eleven-month circle of Rotary friendship, and the profound power of Rotarians individually and together. Hello, District 6250 Rotarians! The new Rotary year is off to a great start. We are already digging in to accomplish our goals charged by RI President Gordon toward prioritizing mental health awareness, learning, and conversations in an effort to improve and care for our district and communities. We’ve put together a mental health task force and have outlined our strategic initiatives for this Rotary year. Members of the task force include DG Michelle McGrath, Teresa Holmes, Liz Evans, and Mary Beth Hensel. Read more stories/district-6250-mental-health-task-force-initiatives
We are saying goodbye to the class of 2022-2023 inbound students and welcoming their class of 2023-2024, made up of 13 students from around the world. Rotary Clubs are actively searching for clubs to host their inbound class of 2024-2025 and aim to have 14+ clubs for that year. The 2023-2024 outbound students will be living in countries such as Sweden, France, and Brazil, and will return with a greater understanding of other cultures. The Short-Term Exchange program had seven young people experience a few weeks abroad this summer, and applications for the Summer 2024 program will be accepted from September 1 to February 1.
Every Rotary year gives us an opportunity to celebrate what our Clubs and District are doing to increase their impact and create lasting change. There's lots to celebrate so let's take a look back to 2022-2023 and take in some of the highlights of a year full of imagination!
The Rotary Citation awards recognize the hard work clubs do throughout the year. Working to achieve the citation goals helps clubs engage their members, stay relevant in their communities, and run more efficiently. A welcoming and engaging club not only fosters a positive experience for its members, but also reflects the values of Rotary. When clubs achieve citation goals, they contribute to the overall health and culture of Rotary for generations to come.
We believe that your participation is crucial to shaping a memorable experience and making it an impactful conference.
As noted, we are all members of the recruiting team responsible for seeking out passionate Rotarians to fill open positions on the Council and Conference Planning Committee. Check more details...
