Rotary Year 2024-2025                                                  Issue No. 06

District Governor Todd Restel during DTTS for RY 2024-2025.

Succession planning is one of a few topics that I will readily discuss for hours.  I strongly believe that succession planning builds lasting institutions and serves as a key building block for all successful entities. A few years ago, I directly experienced the power of succession planning when our 127-year-old family business implemented our emergency succession plan to great success.

As we approach the second half of our Rotary year, succession planning is heavily on my mind. With the announcement of our newest District Governor for the 2027-2028 Rotary year, our District 6250 has a strong line-up of future leaders. As of the writing of this newsletter, only ½ of our District clubs have a president-elect (“PE”) identified for the upcoming 2025-26 Rotary year.

Identifying your club’s PE early has multiple benefits, two of which are as follows:
1 – Allowing the PE to ensure that her/his schedule will allow attendance at the upcoming President Elect Training Seminar (“PETS”).  In case you are wondering, PETS training for our District leaders is amazing (and fun).
2 – Allowing the PE to observe, learn, and obtain on-the-job training before having to step up to lead the club on July 1, 2025.

Finally, in case you forgot to put these dates on your calendar last month, I want to be sure that three key dates are saved on your calendar.
  • Vibrant Club Workshop – To be held in Madison, WI on January 11th, 2025.  ALL Rotarians are invited.
  • District Conference – TriCon, our combined three district conference, will be held in April 25-26, 2025, in Brookfield, WI.  ALL Rotarians are invited.
  • Rotary International Convention - June 21-25, 2025, in Calgary, Canada.  ALL Rotarians are invited.

I hope to see you all there!

DECEMBER 2024 MESSAGE

To adapt as outlined in Rotary’s Action Plan, stepping out of comfort zones is essential. The Rotary Club of Chandigarh Mid Town, India, exemplified this by engaging former members through personal invitations to an alumni meetup. This heartfelt approach led to eight attendees, with six rejoining the club, showcasing the importance of connection and belonging. Club President Nitin Kapur demonstrated courage and character in reaching out, resulting in a successful adaptation and strengthening of the Rotary family. People seek to feel needed and appreciated, fostering a sense of belonging. Clubs can adapt by consulting with members and the community to enhance their experiences and ignite "The Magic of Rotary."
