Rotarians at Work Day 2011

Rotarians from clubs all over Western Wisconsin and Southeastern Minnesota are celebrating “Rotarians at Work Day” on Saturday, April 30th. Each club has identified a hands-on project that will help improve their community.

Many of the projects involve Spring clean-up: in parks in Horicon, Madison and Onalaska; along highways in Medford; or yard work for people with in Wisconsin Rapids. Other projects involve painting and repair for the Colonial Club Senior Activity Center in Sun Prairie and Kid’s Coulee in La Crosse.

Rotary clubs participating in this special day represent over 3,200 Rotarians in 61 clubs in the district. According to Dean Dickinson, former Governor for District 6250, “This special day allows us to focus on our responsibility for community service while we roll up our sleeves and work together in common cause.” This work day is in addition to the continuing efforts made by clubs in their communities and around the world with special projects focused on hunger, literacy, health and international relations.

Rotary clubs worldwide have a reputation for wide ranging charitable work, from the multi-billion dollar campaign to eradicate Polio from the earth, to one of the largest international student exchange programs.
