On Monday, August 5, more than 100 area kids and their adult chaperones will have the opportunity to explore the Mississippi River with the assistance and expertise of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Clayton County Conservation, the Prairie du Chien Rod and Gun Club, Cabela’s, and many more area resource agencies.
Mississippi River Adventure Day is planned to take place from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, August 5 at Lawler Park on St Feriole Island in Prairie du Chien. This is a free educational event for children ages 5-13, and lunch provided for all participants. Online registration will be available soon!
This exciting event allows children a unique chance to learn about river plants and animals, identify fish, mussels and other aquatic life, learn about important historic events which took place along the river, and much more. The day of exploration will provide kids who live on both sides of Pool 10 in Northeast Iowa and Southwest Wisconsin, with a fun, hands-on education about the ecosystem of the great Mississippi River.
